Regional and municipal election candidate

I am running in the 2025 election as a candidate for the National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) in Western Uusimaa (Länsi-Uusimaa) regional and City of Lohja municipal elections.

Why vote for me?

I have over a decade of experience in local politics, and have among other tasks been vice president for a Municipal Education Board. I seek solutions, invite to dialogue and am a strong advocate of cooperation over party boundaries. During the first ever Welfare Services County Council mandate period, I’ve been a deputy member, participating in several Council meetings, but also been instrumental in budgetin works through the preliminary delegations.

My vast work and educational experiences are an asset in decision-making on a practical level.

Support my campaign!

I have no ties or relations to instances that would influence my decision-making or the projects I choose to forward. There is corruption in Finland, although it might be more sublte than in many other countries. However, the phrase “follow the money” comes in handy even here, when you wonder over seemingly curoius decisions being made. I pay for most of my campaign out of my own pocket. I haven’t sought after financial aid from any big lobbyist organizations, because keeping my integrity is of utmost importance to me. Especiella when it comes to making decisions that directly effect you and me in our everyday lives.

I do welcome small donations, since building a campaign just with my own scarse resources is quite the task. If you wish to make a donation, you’re welcome to do so through the MobilePay app where I’ve founded a “piggy bank” for people who wish to endorse my campaign financially. Thank you for your support!

MUNICIPAL ELECTION: Lohja | REGIONAL ELECTION: Western Uusimaa

“Lohja is the best municipality in Finland for entrepreneurs – and to live in”

A well functioning municipality makes it possible for the community to guide towards success. My goal is to ensure with my own input, that Lohja is the best municipality in Finland for entrepreneurs and the best municipality to live in.

A bold trendsetter in employment and entrepreneurship politics

Lohja should be a bold trendsetter in employment and entrepreneurship politics. People with different strengths to be employed and invest in themselves and their abilities should be in the forefront. Lohja should be the best place in Finland to employ persons with slightly limited capacities for work. A lot of good is already done, but we musn’t dwell in our own excellency. There is always room for improvement.

Lohja combines new fresh ideas, but not just for the sake of renewing.

  • Entrepreneurship/light entrepreneur tryouts as a firm part of employment services
  • Arranging of recruitment events in cooperation with neighboring municipalities
  • Lowering thresholds for employment of people with slightly limited capacity to work
  • Improving of employment paths as the main goal of workshop employment tryouts
  • Arranging of entreprenurship workshops with local actors
  • Entrepreneur Buddy – mentoring services for beginning entrepreneurs

A educationally refined city with room to grow and develop

Lohja is one of Finland’s voluntarily bilingual municipalities (Finnish and Swedish are official languages), with high quality education, good opportunities for basic arts education and room for hobbies. The bilingual identity should be cherished in cooperation with other bilingual municipalities and organizations. Even during difficult economic times, the position of culture and arts must be valued. If choices are to be made, the last area for cuts should be the free opportunities for culture and art hobbies for children and youth.

Lohja boasts a variety of meaningful activities also outside the city centre.

  • Continuing and enlarging of the Lohja hobby model
  • Strengthening of the city’s bilingual role
  • Mentor workshops with professional artists for pupils in basic art education
  • Ensuring the fiscal future for the City Orchestra and other municipal cultural actors
  • Enlarging of the network of Kaiku card (free culture and art experiences for people with difficult economic situation) and getting entrepreneurs to participate

A lake travel destination with drive

As a lake city, Lohja already has an important tourism virtue, but until now at least international tourists haven’t been flocking on the shores of Lake Lohja. The entrepreneurs who offer travel and tourism services are bold visionaries, but the city and its inhabitants should also be brought in to the branding work. Lake Lohja, nature destinations and the villages of Lohja are gems waiting to be found. A toursim strategy shall be made for short, middle and long term, where both national and international travellers’ needs and wishes are taken into account. Every Lohja resident should have an elevator pitch in mind – why you should visit Lohja.

The accessibility of Lohja with public transport must be guaranteed, not everyone drives their own cars.

  • Toursim entrepreneurs should have spots they can reserve from the city at Lake Lohja
  • Creation of a Lake travel strategy
  • Improving and developping accessible travel destinations
  • Boating maps available on the Internet
  • The old factory area with the Factory at the Lake live music event should be made into a vibrant cultural hub

“Western Uusimaa sets the example for the whole of Finland”

In the long run, the current welfare services county system is too expensive and heavily bureaucratic.

I have said this for many years, and haven’t change my opinion yet. Dividing the Uusimaa area into four different counties with Helsinki being its separate area is completely superficial and based on purely political reasons. Sadly, the socialist government who forced through this change didn’t actually care at all about accessibility to services, the inhabitants’ welfare, or for economic sustainability.

I like the idea of five healthcare areas based around the university hospitals. This model has been suggested by many experts throughout the decades.

This does however not mean, that everything should be chaotically torn apart. A change towards a more sustainable model must be made carefully with good governance. This is a project spanning over several years, where the first step is to acknowledge that the current system doesn’t work. Then, an exit plan – to which we will stick – will be made.

Among all of this the Western Uusimaa welfare services county must be able to take care of its legislative responsibilities. The Council and Board must be manned with brave politicians, who do not fear to get things done towards a better, more sustainable tomorrow, whilst still ensuring that the core purpose gets fulfilled.

Western Uusimaa can be an example on how economic stability and basic services can be ensured during the transformation to a less bureaucratic system.

The Family Doctor knows the entire family’s situation

In the healthcare services, a model of personal nurse and doctor should be adapted. In this model, the client or patient would always be met by someone he/she/they know already, and moreover, this person would be familiar with the client’s/patient’s situation. The best option would be to enlarge this to cover entire families. The same healthcare professionals would, whenever applicable, treat the entire family in the Family Doctor model. This is not a new idea, rather it is going back to a functioning model from the past. Back in the days, municipal doctors treated entire families in their respective areas, knowing the families’ situation and being able also to prevent future complications. With families who have tendencies for certain illnesses, preventive measures could be applied at the earliest possible stage, when the family’s situation and background are known by the doctor.

  • Family Nurse and Doctor for all families (when applicable)
  • The Family Doctor can be employed by the county or working through a privata company
  • Family Nurse and Doctor make preliminary assessments of healthcare service needs on a family basis
  • The healthcare service assessment is regularily updated
  • Also mouth health services are integrated in the Family Doctor model

A wholesome social services arrangement supports when life gives you lemons

The social services must be able to adapt their services according to the client’s needs. A holistic thought model is especially important, when families or individuals are met with both mental health issues, and somatic disease. The social services should be based on a thought of exact interventions, with priorities in preventive and rehabilitating services. No one shall be left alone, but everyone should be encouraged to get back to their productive lives, instead of passifying them.

  • A more flexible cooperation between social services and healthcare
  • Social services as a support also in open care for mental health rehabilitation
  • The family should be seen as a unit, with room to tailor services, when needed
  • Social services strive towards rehabilitation, support and guiding back to a full life

Senior citizens are an asset – as are youth

Everyone has an undeniable right to a high quality of life in the sunset years. The society bears a responsibility to supply elderly citizens with options for recreation, in accordance with each individuals capacities and abilities. More and more elderyl people can stay at their own homes to an even more elevated age, if preventive and supportive services are available when needed and according to individual needs. No one shall however ever be left on their own just because they don’t have the strength to ask for help. Emergency care reports from family members and neighbors must be thoroughly examined, but without interfering uncessearily on the senior citizen’s right to privacy.

Senior citizens should be seen as a societal strength. The welfare services county could coordinate Senior mentor activities, where an elderly citizen could function as a support person for a young person – and vice versa. These kind of contacts could be very valuable among youth who are in the risk of being marginalized and elderly citizens who face loneliness. The welfare services county should invite Non-governmental Organizations to participate in this kind of coordinative work.

  • Senior care’s most important task is to ensure a high quality of life in the sunset years
  • Each senior citizens are their own lives best experts
  • Lonely eldery people and youth risking marginalization could support each others
  • NGO’s have to be brought in – they have the practical knowledge
  • Funding must be reserved for NGO’s especially for preventive and rehabilitational activities
